A4 is a high quality hard-matrix antifouling paint especially recommended for yacht, racing,
fishing and power boats.
A4 antifouling is recommended for boats staying in the water all year long but also for boats been dry sailed or boats grounding at low tide. This antifouling is not suitable for aluminium hulls.
Nautix A4 can be applied over most other hard antifouling paints on the market. Do not apply over self polishing antifouling.
PREPARATION
New hull: Wash with a detergent and degrease using a cloth soaked in Nautix SD. Sand the surface (paper grade 150) that should be dulled. Rinse with fresh water and let dry.
Recommended primers:
Adhesion: Nautix P1 or PO (1-pack) or epoxy primer HPE or PE (2 packs).
Osmosis prevention: Nautix PO (1 pack polyurethane resin – 4 coats minimum).
Protection: Nautix epoxy primer HPE or PE (4-5 coats minimum - sand with paper grade 150 between coats and before antifouling application).
Anti-corrosion primer for keel or steel boat: Nautix IA + PA - 1 pack polyurethane resin system.
Maintenance of existing surface: Rinse with fresh water and let dry. Any loose paint must be removed. If there is any doubt on compatibility between the new antifouling paint and the existing one, apply a coat of Nautix P1.
APPLICATION
To avoid any condensation between support and paint coat : support, ambient air and paint temperatures must be the same (Dew-Point). Do not apply under 10°C. Shake and stir thoroughly with a spatula before use. For 5 and 20 litres kegs, a mixer is strongly recommended.
Application methods: brush, roller, spray gun, airless.
Number of coats : 2 (a 3rd waterline coat can be applied in hot water area).
Thinner-Cleaner: Nautix DA - Maximum dilution: 10 % (20% with spray gun)
